People say they want to know your story? When I heard this I was like... "um, I'm a small town girl..???" haha... I wasn't too sure what people meant by that. Well here it is...
I'm 34, and a proud mother of an 18 year old son. I was 16 years old when I had him. Did I do it alone? ABSOLUTELY NOT! My parents, my brother, my cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and so many others have helped me raise my son. I may be his mother but I was never a single mother, because of my dad he is the man he is today.
Since 1995 I have been trying to loose this baby weight, as it just has accumulated. I stopped breast feeding but my appetite was still there. He started eating solid foods, so I would finish his food. He didn't like something, so I ate it. He wanted treats like s'mores and cookies, we would make these and bond over it. He loved when I would bake for him, so I made sure I would surprise him with treats. My son has never been overweight, it was all me. I'm grateful that he's fit and healthy and if it was because I had to gain a few pounds over the years then it was all worth it.
After all these years my goal has been the same to loose weight, to be healthy and fit. I finally feel that I am achieving this! How? There are several hows, but the first "how" I found out was staying committed. Like a job, or a relationship, or schooling. It takes commitment.
I have always tried to be active in some way or another. Whether it was walking my dog at night, hiking a few days here and there, spinning at the gym, or doing an at home workout like Tae-Bo. Needless to say, I started my weight loss journey a few times. I bought P90X a few years ago and I lasted a few days. Then I tried Insanity I lasted a whole week. In August I have purchased Focus T25 and have successfully completed the "Alpha" phase (5 weeks).
What changed? Why now? Well it started with Instagram and following Erin Morgan.(tippingthescale2013.blogspot.com ) She hosted a July challenge, where I would participate in daily exercises. I started and I didn't stop. I completed a MONTH of daily exercises and I won her challenge! That motivated me to the next step which was committing to another Beachbody program (Focus T-25), but this time I took it to the next level. I became a Beachbody Coach. Wowza, when they say things happen for a reason. They really truly do. The first month I was wow this is a cool company, saw all the amazing discounts I can get, read about Shakeology more. Read about the success stories throughout the company etc. The second month I started seeing how amazing the company was, how Erin was benefiting from it. How my upline star diamond coach was one of the top 20 in the nation and then I started thinking... wait this is all I ever wanted to do. To help people.
I worked at Disneyland for 9 years and LOVED it because I was helping people. I quit because I was working too much and away from my son missing a lot of his life. I found a job closer to home where I met one of my best friends. From there I went to school to become an Esthetician, after that I earned my bachelors in Psychology. Shortly after I started working in placements with kids who were on probation and in the foster care system as a counselor and team leader. I loved it but I wasn't getting paid enough to be above the poverty level. Currently I have a great career working with children within the autism spectrum disorder (ASD). I know with all my heart what I have learned from my current job is the reason why I am finally reaching my goals and am learning to become successful with beachbody. So needless to say I feel that my lifes work is to help people, because I know without the help of all the people in my sons life. We would not be who we are today.
